Back then, I used to assume that content writing and copywriting were the same. But I wondered why it is called copywriting if it is the same as content writing.
And that made me write this piece. Let’s look at the meaning and differences between these two skills.
What is Copywriting?
Copywriting is when someone writes words that make selling. To say, it may be buying a product or signing up for a service. The words should get people’s attention and convince them to take action towards a product or service.
For example,
When you are looking to become a writer and keep searching to learn about writing. And then you came across this ad, what will you do?
1. “And yes, you can become a high-paid writer in just 3 months.”
2. “Do you love writing but are you worried about where to begin? We are here to help you from scratch, and you can do it within three months.”
“Signup for our service today and get a chance to avail 40% discount on our course!”
The above ad makes you take action immediately. And this is copywriting.
Good copywriting uses simple language like the above that is easy to understand by all of us. It makes people excited and intrigued to take action on the product or service.
